The Shifting Paradigm is the brainchild of me, Michael Bolling, and  a group of friends who saw a need and an opportunity to uniquely address it. Due to the fact that we are inundated on such a constant basis with information, be it from a smartphone, television or social network, it is easy to miss stories that are important and potentially impactful on your life. It is equally, if not more difficult to find topics that are addressed from the perspective of a yuppie (young urban professional).

The goal of this site is to cover a full range of topics that are significant for what has been deemed the “lost generation.” Too often, when reading traditional news and information pieces, I feel as though I’m being talked at as opposed to talked to. Other times, even more discouragingly, meaningful stories that address relevant topics go unreported. The purpose of this project is to address that niche.

I think the reason why younger people are often perceived as disengaged is because they rarely have an opportunity to consume information that is specifically created for their demographic. The endgame for the Shifting Paradigm is to be a sounding board for the full spectrum of issues that affect us in our daily lives, from politics to entertainment. Through the ‘blog’ section on the site, we want to create an opportunity for readers of the site to write, submit and comment personal blogs that talk about any issues that are important to them. Ultimately, we want to change the way our demographic is looked at in regards to interest and engagement in significant issues and help broaden the way the readers look at THEIR world.
