From one former Division 1 Track & Field athlete/Personal Trainer to another. Thanks for putting this out there. This is the REALITY CHECK that most African American women (better yet, ALL AMERICANS) NEED to see. Exercise is SUPPOSE to be part of our daily routine, instead people find time to do EVERYTHING else, but take care of the very thing that keeps us alive, OUR BODIES.

Thank you for writing this piece. It is so crucial that woman in general realize the benefits of taking care of their body and health in general. I live in a place that has all of the things you mentioned all around me and to be quite honest it is a bit disappointing. The problem however is so much greater than the individual as you describe but the acceptance of a faulting behavior of the masses. Say what you may but you can't do anything else for those you care about before you do better for your self..Good Work...

Interesting, fashion is a form of art nothing more nothing less. High fashion strikes the nerves of many, from notable photographers/editors to 5th avenue window shoppers. This is why we have couture and friendly store brands. But back to the topic at hand, the Gulf Oil Spill, though it was and is a tragic event, photographer, Steve Meisel decided to show his viewpoint in the form of a snap shot. Pictures do say 1,000 words and my guess is that the reason why is because interpretation is up to the viewer. Fashion critics/editors don't be so brash...

What I don't get is, if there was a magazine that was written for "White people", it'd be classified as a racist magazine. But if it's a Latino/Asian/Black magazine, it's deemed as cultural.

If blacks really want to get over the race issue, they need to stop bringing it up (of course, this is a fine line). In times of certain discrimination, bring it up. But if a qualified person is hired for a position, how is it not discrimination if that person is white for a black publication?

It's amazing that it's ok for a black person to say "One of the younger black editors should have gotten this opportunity." Is it ok to say "one of the white running backs should get the starter position in the NFL"?

People need to look at the merits first - if Ellianna Placas wasn't qualified, ok, have a complaint. But if she is qualified, and did the best in the interview, why is it ok to discriminate against her because she's white?

Very informative...two thumbs up for public health...it seems as though the obesity epidemic is causing a much larger problem than loss of recess in elementary schools. It's a socieconomic issue for sure, thanks Mike!

Well written and well done. As you stated in the "about" piece on the entire website, this is a board to release all thoughts, inquiries, and out right opinions of the "lost" generation. Thank you Mr. Bolling!
